Sustainability

Grassroots adheres to the three pronged approach to sustainability, which encompasses economic, environmental and social issues. We only carry products of the highest quality that are sourced as locally as possible. We are constantly on the hunt for new products to put on our shelves that do not harm our environment or the workers that manufacture them. Giving back to our local and global community is also very important to the Grassroots Family. We do all we can to give back and educate.

Sustainable Practices at Grassroots

Herb Garden

The Grassroots Herb Garden is cozily situated in the back of our store. We grow over 10 varieties of organic herbs and native drought tolerant flowers that we eat and give away to customers and admirers. We are trying to do our part to help sustain our world.

Eco-Friendly Cleaning Supplies

The health and wellbeing of our staff and customers is something that we take very seriously at Grassroots. We use EcoLogic Solutions cleaning supplies for all of our cleaning purposes. We clean without compromise.

Locally Sourced Products

At Grassroots, we really care about what goes into our bodies. Sourcing locally means that our products are more fresh, healthier and use less fossil fuels during transport. We are doing our best to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels–one product at a time.

Recycling

We recycle cans, cardboard, glass bottles and plastic. Our recycle bins are located in our indoor dining area and are easily accessible. Our world has limited resources, so we must reuse and up-cycle.

Environmentally Friendly Packaging

Our restaurant only uses environmentally friendly packaging which comes from recycled and reused plastic and paper. We also offer Grassroots reusable bags to help reduce our dependence on plastic and protect wildlife.

Community

Building a healthy and vibrant community is paramount. We take it upon ourselves to be a community leader and give back as much as possible. We donate to the South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF), the South Pasadena Middle School PTA, Los Angeles Children’s Music Foundation, the South Pasadena Public Library and Union Station Homeless Services.
